project 3 : designing with architectural principles,
materiality, context and user
In the final project for Studio II, we are required to further explore and integrate the design idea and construction method of the previous assignment into a more complex program individually. We are assigned to design a solitary haven located at Subang Ria Recreational Park that does not exceed 100sqm and be able to accommodate 2 occupants.
requirements:
3 x a1 presentation boards, design narrative, diagrams, orthographic drawings (1:100), sectional detail (1:20), key drawings, models
workshop 1 : diagramming site analysis
group task
individual task
workshop 2 : architectural drawings
workshop 3 : sectional details
presentation boards
presentation video
reflection
In the final project of Studio II, I think I've learned most from this module as this is an individual project where we need to think about the site, users, functions, and buildability. The workshops with AD3, AD4, and AD5 seniors were also very helpful as the seniors are friendly and kind enough to share their work and experience with us. I am also very lucky to have Ar Alina as my tutor as she is always helpful, kind, supportive to us, and always ready to help us when we were facing any problems.
Throughout this project, the TGC that I've gained is DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE as I am able to establish
a basic level of understanding of materiality and detailing as means to capture experiential qualities of the design.
Moreover, the TGC that I've gained from this project is LIFELONG LEARNING as I am able to interpret design ideas into
habitable architectural spaces through drawing and making. I am also able to produce designs at appropriate complexity and
scales up to the schematic level using appropriate communication tools.
Last but not least, the TGC that I've gained from this project is THINKING & PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS.
I am able to think critically and creatively while define and analyze problems to arrive at effective solutions in this
project. I am also able to demonstrate creativity, innovation, and imagination and translate these into an architectural
design solution and translate the design into construction drawings with appropriate construction details and use
established architectural drawing convention.
