PROJECT 2: TECTONICS
Design Principles, Anthropometric & Ergonomic Exploration

In Project 2, we are required to working with timber and understand the nature and characteristics of timber and how it is to be used in our design. After that, we are going to combine our design intention that we had learned in Project 1 and structure it into our tectonics with anthropometry and ergonomics. We are required to explore anthropometry and ergonomics to understand more on how to design a tectonics.

final model

The design principle & design element that I used in my tectonic model is LINE & RHYTHM, I designed a structure by using LINE & RHYTHM to fit the banal action that I had chosen based on my study of anthropometry and ergonomics.

presentation boards

For the presentation boards, we are required to include PLAN(1), ELEVATION(1), SECTION(1), EXPLODED AXONOMETRIC, JOINT AND JOINERY DETAILS, and 2 TATTOO STAMPS.

For Project 2, I had understood how to design a structure based on my intention. I also learned how to create a structure based on anthropometry and ergonomics.

The TGC that I gained from this project is LIFELONG LEARNING which helps me to learn

independently and apply the knowledge effectively. I am also intellectually engaged

throughout this project.

Other than that, I had also gained the TGC which is THINKING AND PROBLEM

SOLVING SKILLS as I am able to think critically and creatively while create and work a

tectonic installation and understand the material, quality of space, and

articulation form.

Furthermore, the TGC that I gained through this project is INTRAPERSONAL SKILLS as I

am able to manage myself and be self-reliant while doing this project. I am also able to

introduce and create an awareness of anthropometry and ergonomics and relating it to

form and space.
