project 1 : diagramming architectural principles

For the first assignment, we are required to work in a group of five and to learn from precedents given by analyzing their design objectives and principles. Our group has given "The House with 5 Retaining Walls' in Setagaya City, Japan. We are then required to investigate how spaces are created from the making of architectural and constructional elements for the building.

requirements:

4 - 8 a3 landscape presentation boards, set of diagrams, orthographic drawings (1:50), 5 diagrammatic models (1:50), analysis process

presentation  slides

diagrams  and  models

reflection

In this project, I've learned how to analyze and diagram an architectural work. I am also able to produce basic architectural compositions of solids, planes, lines, and frames. I think this project really helps me a lot as I am now able to translate the analysis into architectural diagrams.

The TGC that I've gained throughout this project is LIFELONG LEARNING as I am able to learn independently

while locating, extracting, synthesizing, and utilizing information effectively and be intellectually engaged at the

same time through the project.

Other than that, the other TGC that I've gained throughout this project is THINKING &

PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILL as I am able to define and analyze problems to arrive at effective solutions. We had

faced some problems in this project as this is our first time learning architectural diagramming and I am

lucky enough to group with my groupmates as we can communicate well and solve problems together.
